Searching for the carvings and ornaments hidden around the Lynn Glen in Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland. I’m not sure if I found them all.

The walk through Lynn Glen in Dalry, Ayrshire, was a mix of quiet exploration and relaxation. I set out specifically to look for the carvings and ornaments hidden in the area and not just to take in the scenery, but to actively search for something tucked away and easily missed.

The path itself was mostly straightforward, with patches of rough ground here and there. I moved slowly, checking tree trunks, branches, and outcrops along the way. Some carvings were clear and easy to spot once you were close enough, while others blended in so well they’d be easy to walk past if you weren’t paying attention.

There was a quietness to the place that helped me focus. It wasn’t a busy trail, so I had space to stop and look properly without feeling rushed. A few parts of the glen felt like they hadn’t changed in years, which made finding a modern carving or placed ornament feel slightly surreal, almost like stumbling on someone else’s secret.

By the end, I’d found several carvings. Some were worn down, others were more recent, and a few odd little additions people must have left behind over time. It wasn’t about collecting anything, just noticing what others had quietly added to the landscape. It gave the walk a purpose beyond just covering ground. I left feeling like I’d seen a different side of the glen. One that’s easy to overlook unless you go looking for it.
