Tracing Dalry’s past where forests grow beside old mines.
I took a walk along the Pitcon Path in Dalry, which is an interesting mix of industrial history and natural surroundings. This route follows the site of several old mines that are now closed. These have been replaced by a factory nearby, with some forested areas not far off. There’s also a country manor hidden among the trees. It’s a circular walk that brings you back to Dalry town centre.
The area feels quite peaceful despite the industrial presence, and there’s plenty of wildlife to spot. On this walk, I saw a rabbit and a squirrel, which added a nice touch of nature to the experience. Whether you call it walking, hiking, rambling, or just a stroll, this path offers a good balance of man-made and natural features.
If you enjoy exploring places where nature and industry meet, this is a route worth trying. The trail is easy to follow and a good way to spend some time outdoors.
