A frustrating hike across moorland with blocked trails and poor maps.

I set out for what I expected to be a peaceful walk through Fairlie Glen, enjoying the woodland paths and small waterfalls. Once I reached Fairlie Moor, the day quickly became challenging. A mapping app I relied on sent me in circles, leaving me disoriented and unsure of the correct route. The paths were further disrupted by logging activity, which had damaged trails and made navigation even harder. Climbing the steep moor was tough and frustrating, but eventually I reached the Ayrshire Coastal Path. Seeing the sea views felt like a well-earned reward after the struggle, even though my feet were sore and my patience tested. The experience reminded me just how unpredictable walking in Scotland’s hills can be.
