A rainy seaside walk that ended with no train home from Fairlie, North Ayrshire, Scotland.
I set out on a coastal walk to Fairlie in North Ayrshire, following the shoreline path on a grey and windswept day. The sea was restless, the skies heavy with rain, and the air full of that unmistakable coastal atmosphere. Despite the lack of sunshine, the walk offered lovely views across the water and a look at Fairlie’s seafront houses, all sitting quietly against the backdrop of the Firth of Clyde. The rain and wind gave the walk a moody edge, but it was still a rewarding coastal trek. At the end, however, the weather wasn’t the only challenge, as I discovered the train home was cancelled, leaving me stranded for a while. It was an unpredictable end to a day of bracing Scottish seaside walking.
