A walk along the coast of the pretty seaside town on Scotland’s southwest coast.
I walked from Largs town to Largs Yacht Haven Marina, following the seafront for the whole way. Largs is a coastal town on the southwest coast of Scotland, and it has a long connection with Viking history. Every year in early September, there’s a Viking festival that takes place in the town, which brings in a lot of visitors. The Battle of Largs happened here in 1263, when the Norwegian and Scottish armies clashed. To mark the event, the Pencil monument was built just outside the town, close to the sea. The route I took was flat and easy to follow, with good views across the water. The marina is only a short walk from the centre of town and has lots of boats and a few places to stop for something to eat or drink. The area is well-kept and quiet, and it didn’t take long to reach it on foot. It’s a decent walk if you want to stretch your legs without going too far.
